Create a Session Proposal
* * * * DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS EXTENDED TO MARCH 17, 2010 * * * *
Before you propose your session:
- Read the descriptions of AMC2010 Tracks. Your proposed session could be integrated into one of the planned tracks, or it could be presented independently.
- Check out workshop descriptions from the last AMC and propose a session for this year that builds upon those ideas, skills, and strategies.
There are four kinds of sessions:
- Workshops: We love "how-to" workshops, from introductory to advanced levels. We encourage presenters to think creatively about how to make content as accessible as possible.
- Panel Discussions: Moderators of panels should draw out essential ideas and questions from panelists and then bring the room of AMC participants into the discussion.
- Film Presentations: We give preference to sessions that explain how a film is being used for social and political transformation.
- Caucuses and Meet-Ups: The AMC is an opportunity for people with a common interest to come together and strategize. Tell us about the caucus or meeting that you want to hold and we'll do our best to support it.
We like sessions that:
- are interactive and creative
- share successful strategies that will work for other conference participants; it has to be more than just a showcase for a project
- build off ideas from past AMCs or other conferences
- are relevant to the AMC's vision (please read it before submitting a proposal)
- are collaborations across multiple groups
- are friendly to all ages from infants to elders
NEW FOR AMC2010: Creative Facilitation Support
All presenters will submit outlines of their sessions by April 16 so that they can receive feedback from the AMC Creative Facilitation team and from other conference presenters. We have established this process in order to support you in developing the most engaging workshop possible.NOTE: AMC organizers make final decisions on conference programming based on the vision and mission of the AMC, the input of our advisers, and our financial and logistical capacity.
